Mala beads are the most ancient form of a rosary, the beads are used to count the repetitions of a mantra or prayer.

In translation, japa means repetitive prayer and mala means garland. The beads are used to count repetitions of prayers, chants or mantras. One repetition is usually said for each bead while turning the bead clockwise with the thumb. There is an additional bead, known as the guru bead, counting should start next to this bead. Usually the guru bead is not used during counting, but rather the counting then proceeds in the opposite direction.

Stone beads are used to combine the powers of the stones with the meditation. The cord running through the beads symbolizes the thread of Life. Each mala has been made from small natural stone beads which are extremely difficult to make and therefore makes every mala a work of art.  It should be treated with care and respect. Hematite grounds and protects us.
