Obsidian is a natural glass that is formed from quickly cooled volcanic lava. As a healing stone it is used for protection as it absorbs and disperses negativity. Black Obsidian can bring negative emotions and unpleasant truths rushing to the surface, which have to be confronted before peace can return. Since it forms a shield against negativity it should be cleansed regularly in running water. Obsidian is believed to reduce the pain of arthritis, to help joint problems, ease cramps and aid digestion.

Black obsidian is not an easy tumble and this stone was very smooth, sized well and excellent shape. I have many rough pieces of obsidian I have found myself but they are far too sharp to handle or carry. I’m very grateful for such a great Obsidian that I can hold without fear of easily breaking the stone or cutting myself. Great price and couldn’t be happier.
