Obsidian Rainbow is a lustrous black gemstone with a lovely rainbow iridescence that is naturally formed from volcanic glass. When the light hits it just right you are able to view different stiations running throughout. Obsidian is present where lava enters the water, as well as around the edges of a volcanic dome or lava flow.

Because of light-reflecting inclusions within the stone, obsidian may have an iridescent or metallic sheen. Based on the color of the iridescence, these unusual colored examples are known as rainbow obsidian, golden obsidian, or silver obsidian. These lovely stones are widely sought after for use in jewelry.
